These are someone's possessions, probably all their possessions. They are carefully packaged, covered and locked to a railing. This morning as I walked I became overcome with emotion. It is so hard, trying to reconcile in my mind - the images of poverty and wealth - which I've seen here. I have huge respect for my friends at Broad Street Ministries and what they are doing with the homeless people in this city. It has been bitterly cold these last few days, it was sleeting and raining on Thursday night. So hard for those who care for the homeless to see people suffering in the cold.
I walked past here and on down Broad Street for nearly three miles, taking in the cool air as I left the city. When I had walked for a while I began to feel the warmth of the sun again, I loosened my coat, undid my scarf and began to smile : )
